The forum is available for discussions by the visitors of this site. There’s a slide-show, with pictures from the the site owner’s trip down Route 66 in 1994. This site is maintained by Swa Frantzen, and it was the source of my directions for MY first trip on the Mother Road in 2000! As Mr. Frantzen says, “old Route 66 is not indicated on maps nowadays; any serious traveller of U.S. Highway 66 needs a detailed map and guide before hitting the road.” This site is a great source for exactly what is needed.

Route 66 Web & Atlas Steffan Joppich maintains this marvelous on-line atlas to the Mother Road. As Steffan says on the home page, “The information contained in this web is based on years of field studies and lot of work done by courtesy of enthusiasts like me – but there are still some question marks. My issue was, to map all the known alignments of ‘US66′ including it’s predessors like ‘Pontiac Trail’ (POT), ‘Ozark Trail’ (OZT), old ‘Postal Routes’ (OPR), ‘Santa Fe/Pecos Trail’ (SFT), ‘National Old Trails’ (NOT).” If your interest in the highway is reaching the level of obsession, then this is the website for you!
